Noosa is renewed, refreshed and one of Australia’s most iconic holiday destinations is hip and alive again. Let me tell you about the new and upgraded locations on Hastings Street including, of course, my own gallery!
It’s spring and Hastings Street is full of people enjoying the gorgeous, sunny weather but the street has been busy with another kind of energy too– construction. Up and down the street, tradies are pushing hard to finish projects in time for the prime holiday season and once opened a whole lot of new cool will descend on vibrant Hasting Street.
If you haven’t been to Noosa for a while now is definitely the time to come before the season takes hold. And if all these projects aren’t enough, just see how we’ve made the street ‘twinkle’ at night – you’ll see what I mean when you arrive!
In the meantime here are a few of the major new projects that have been completed or will be opening in the next month or so.
Sheraton Hotel – Now All Luxury
After a long closure and multi million dollar refurbishment the Sheraton is now a full luxury hotel with every room upgraded. The cool Mediterranean white exterior compliments the chic interior of the hotel and rooms. The adjoining Beach House bar has also been given a total facelift.
The Beach House – Peter Kuruvita’s Restaurant
Celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita famous for his Sydney restaurant Flying Fish and SBS food show ‘Island Feast’ show has opened the new Beach House restaurant in the Sheraton. And we say “Yum!”
Locale – Restaurant with Noosa Cool
Lindoni’s the beloved Italian restaurant on Hastings Street has closed but do not despair because manager Rio has opened a new restaurant at the Mantra/Outrigger end of Hastings Street called Locale. It has only been open a week but it is already a hit with locals and visitors.
Serving wonderful Italian food and featuring a big wine bar, Locale offers Italian favourites including pizza set off by the cutting edge architecture of Frank Maccia. It’s Noosa cool and it’s great to have Rio back!
Seahaven – New from Top to Bottom
Cranes have dominated the view from Jive Art’s gallery for most of the year as a builders worked on a major upgrade of the Seahaven Resort. All the rooms have been gutted and rebuilt and the shop area on ground level is also being completely changed. A new restaurant and upscale retail shops are promised but we’ll need to wait until Christmas find out who our new neighbours will be. The new Mondrian inspired glass wall is a signature feature of the transformed resort.
Miss Moneypenny – Cocktail Bar and Restaurant
It only seems only yesterday that jack hammers started to knock down the beloved but old Ma Mensa restaurant next to our new gallery but now Miss Moneypenny’s is just days away from opening!
The opening of this upscale cocktail lounge and casual restaurant promises to be a landmark even by Hasting Street standards. Bringing Melbourne chic and Sydney cool to the north end of the street.
Once it is opened you’ll be able to stop for a drink then wander down the street to browse in our windows.
10 Hastings Street – Casual and Fun
Already one of my personal favourites (perhaps because it is only a few steps away!) is the new casual restaurant and bar that is part of the boutique motel 10 Hastings Street. It serves excellent light meals, great wines and beers with al fresco dining. Enjoy the laid back, beach shack atmosphere as you watch people walking by.
Jive Art and Design’s All New Gallery
I cannot miss the opportunity to remind you about the new gallery space we moved into earlier this year. It’s located at 2 Hastings Street, just down the road from Seahaven and the soon to be opened Miss Moneypenny’s. Jive Art and Design is bigger, brighter and has a lot more art and jewellery. Our huge range of contemporary Australian and Aboriginal art features work from local artists and international masters. And for all you jewellery lovers, we have a bigger selection of some of most affordable designer jewellery in Australia and a sophisticated online store. Stop buy while you are visiting cool, hip Hastings Street!
